Customising Your Widget

The Widget settings page in your dashboard gives you full control over how your widget looks and behaves. This guide covers every option available.

Enabling the Widget

Navigate to Widget in your dashboard sidebar. You will see the Enable Widget card with two toggles:

  • Show widget on your website turns the widget on globally. When enabled, you get an embed code to paste into your website.
  • Show widget on your helpdesk controls whether the widget also appears on your public helpdesk pages. This is enabled by default when the widget is active.

Theme

Choose between Light and Dark mode for the widget panel. This is independent of your helpdesk theme, so you can have a dark helpdesk with a light widget or the other way around.

Accent Style

The widget header uses an accent color. You have two options:

  • Accent Gradient uses your helpdesk gradient colors for a vibrant header. This is the default.
  • Primary Color uses your single primary color for a simpler, solid look.

Header Text Color

Set the color of the text in the widget header. The default is white (#ffffff), which works well with most accent colors. If you are using a light accent, you may want to switch to a darker text color for better readability.

Launcher Icon

The launcher is the floating button visitors click to open the widget. Choose from 13 icon options including Help Circle, Chat Bubble, Book, Headphones, Sparkle, Lightning Bolt, Life Buoy, Send, Info, Compass, Smile, Heart, and Globe.

Pick the icon that best matches your brand. A sparkle works well for something playful, a book for documentation focused sites, or headphones for support oriented pages.

Border Radius and Button Size

Control how rounded the widget panel corners are with the Border Radius slider (0 to 24px, default 16px). Set the launcher button diameter with the Button Size slider (40 to 72px, default 56px).

Position and Offset

Place the widget in the Bottom Right or Bottom Left corner of the screen. Fine tune the exact distance from the edge with the horizontal and vertical offset sliders (default: 20px each).

Welcome Message

The text displayed at the top of the widget panel when a visitor opens it. The default is "How can we help?" Change it to match your brand voice or give visitors a more specific prompt.

Show Categories

When enabled, the widget displays your helpdesk categories so visitors can browse by topic. When disabled, visitors see your top articles and can use the search bar to find what they need.

Show Popularity

When enabled, a small popularity indicator appears next to articles in the widget. This shows visitors which articles are most viewed, helping them find commonly referenced content faster.

Quick Questions

Add pre written questions that appear as clickable buttons in the Ask AI tab. These help guide visitors to common topics without typing. To add one, type it in the input field and press Enter. Remove any question by clicking the X next to it.

Quick Questions are a great way to highlight your most frequently asked topics and encourage visitors to use the AI feature.

Live Preview

As you adjust settings, the preview panel on the right updates in real time. You can toggle the preview open and closed, and switch between the Search and Ask AI tabs to see how each looks with your current configuration.
